Why Join Altana?
Why would you choose to join Altana Federal Credit Union when there is a financial institution on every corner? The truth is, if you compared a list of all the products and services from each financial institution side by side, you may not see much of a difference…but there is a big difference!
True Local Ownership
At Altana, we aren't owned by an out of state corporation or wealthy family. We're owned by our members – which is anyone who banks with us. When you join, you purchase one "share" in the Credit Union for $25.00, and although the money you pay for your share remains yours, you must leave it in a savings account in order to maintain your membership. The money that you have in savings is then lent out to other members who need a loan.
We're a Not-for-profit Cooperative
We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative, which means that our primary goal is to serve our members and provide the best available solution. In other words, we are putting your financial well being first. In return, we want you to help the cooperative by increasing the number of account relationships you have with Altana. By doing so, you make it possible for us to continue providing you and all of our membership with the financial tools that enhance your quality of life.
Volunteer Board of Directors
All members of our Board of Directors are fellow credit union members who serve on a volunteer basis to set the long-term direction of the credit union and to ensure that prudent operational policies are maintained.
Philosophy! A Big Difference!
"People helping people" is the basic premise of credit unions worldwide.
Service is Personal
We want to get to know you. After all, as a member, you are our financial stake-holders. Come to any of our convenient locations, and meet our friendly staff.
Your Funds are Secure
Funds on deposit at Altana Federal Credit Union are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government.
