Teen Accounts

Your First Checking Account

When you’re ready, you may want to think about a checking account. A checking account makes accessing your money simple and easy! When you want to make a purchase, simply write a check, or use your Check Card. The funds are taken directly out of your checking account.

Just remember that you cannot spend more money than is in your account, so keeping accurate records is important.

Remember too, that checks and check cards are stand-ins for money that must be kept in a secure place. That means you should never give a blank check to a buddy, lend out your Check Card,  divulge a personal identification number (PIN), or be careless with deposit slips, which may reveal account information.

Once you get the basics down and successfully manage a checking account, it's on to other good financial habits, like acquiring and repaying that first car loan.

Add these free conveniences to your checking account!
